Founded in 1852, Mills College is an independent liberal arts college. Historically a college for women only, Mills was the first women’s college west of the Rocky Mountains, and it still provides that tradition today at the undergraduate level. Mills also offers graduate programs open to both women and men. The college offers more than 40 undergraduate and 23 graduate degrees and certificate programs to its more than 1,500 students with a 11 to 1 student to faculty ratio.
Located in the foothills of Oakland, Calif. on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay, Mills College received many college rankings this year, including the U.S. News & World Report ranking fifth among top colleges in the West as well as being seventh in the West as “Great Schools, Great Prices.” The Princeton Review, Washington Monthly, and the Sierra Club also listed Mills on its rankings this year.
