Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative and Solace House benefited from iModules sixth year of sponsorship
August 29, 2011 – Overland Park, Kan – For its sixth consecutive year, iModules Software has partnered with Head for the Cure 5K to help in the fight against brain Cancer. Created to raise awareness, raise money, and provide solidarity for brain cancer patients and their family, Head for the Cure is the only event in the Kansas City Metro and one of only a few in the United States that are dedicated solely to brain tumor patients.
Started in Kansas City in 2003, this race is dedicated to the memory of Chris Anthony, who was 37 when he passed away from a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor in February 2003. The race has grown from a few hundred runners, to more than 4,500 in 2011. In addition to Kansas City, there are three new race locations including Colombia, Mo., Lawrence, Kan., and North Texas with plans to expand to more locations next year. In addition to the financial support, iModules employees participated in the race.
Head for the Cure has grown substantially, raising $10,000 in 2003 at its Kansas City location to more than $325,000 in 2011 to help find a cure for brain cancer through its 5K events. Proceeds from Head for the Cure 5K benefit the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Solace House. The BTTC is a research project with 16 teaching hospitals created through funds raised through the race. The research is focused on how to extend the lives of those with brain cancers.
“We are proud to sponsor for Head for the Cure for the sixth year in a row and to help promote its growth as it strives to improve lives for those impacted by head cancers,” DeBacco said.
About Head for the Cure:
Head for the Cure 5K events are unique tributes to those fighting brain cancer and those who have lost their battles. Celebrating the lives and legacies of those with brain cancer has always been central to the atmosphere at Head for the Cure events. Some participants show up simply to race and many show up in solidarity for a loved one, past or present. Together, they strive to defeat brain cancer step by step.
