Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG benefit from employees growing mustaches

November 29, 2010 - Overland Park, Kan - The iModules Software office is looking a little different these days. Sixteen members of the Overland Park-based company are growing mustaches throughout the month of November and not shaving until December 1, to literally help change the face of men's health. They are doing this to support the Movember Foundation.

The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Movember challenges men to change their appearance and raise awareness for men's health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men's health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days. The mustaches attract attention and provide an easy way to talk about the cause.

"The Movember Foundation is a national organization which raises money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG," iModules' Central U.S. Regional Sales Manager, Vince Robertson, said. "A group of my friends started the local movement here in Kansas City. We had no idea it would go this well and that this many people would be involved."

Robertson brought Movember to iModules and the company is the first corporate team in the Kansas City Metro with many Mo Bros and Mo Sistas participating, including CEO Tom DeBacco. "As a company, iModules has a corporate culture of giving," DeBacco said. "This year, we had a team participate in Bike MS, we donate to local charities for the holidays every year, and we also provide scholarships to students annually. Participating in Movember just expands our outreach." DeBacco challenges other Kansas City corporations to get involved in 2011.

Robertson is the individual leader in fundraising for the Kansas City region with nearly $1,700 in funds raised for the cause. The iModules team has raised nearly $3,800, contributing to the more than $11,500 raised in Kansas City so far for the Movember Foundation.
