Penn State College of Medicine selected Encompass for its online solution. In 1966, the Pennsylvania State University broke ground to establish a medical school, research center, and teaching hospital, admitting its first students in 1967 and its first patients in 1970. The College of Medicine was the first in the nation to have a dedicated Department of Humanities and a Department of Family and Community Medicine. Both were original departments as the College opened. The college has graduated nearly 4,000 physicians and nearly 1,000 scientists with Ph.D. or M.S. degrees.
